We’re fortunate to have been enjoying phenomenal growth since our inception, and it looks like things aren’t going to slow down any time soon. If you’re a regular reader of our blog and are aware of our business goals, you’ll know that we are on a global mission and want to become the go-to rail and energy recruitment specialist around the world. And here at Samuel Knight, if we say we’re going to do something, we take action quickly! That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that we will be expanding our US operations with a new head office in Chicago to help meet the demands of the exponential US rail growth.
We’ve been operating in the States for a while now, and we believe that Chicago will be the best American city for our headquarters for a number of reasons. Firstly, it is considered to be the single most important hub for the United States—linking East to West and North to South. The city has a rich rail history and plans for major development, meaning that demand for talent looks set to grow.
With Chicago being one of the main and busiest hubs in the nation, it understandably has extremely high levels of congestion. To tackle this problem, the US Department of Transportation has awarded $132 million for a major railroad improvement program on the city’s South Side that aims to cut freight and commuter train delays, decrease train idling and improve air quality. This will be a massive project that is expected to take several years to complete and will require a large workforce of contractors as well permanent staff. The program, named the 75th Street Corridor Improvement Project, is the largest project in the broader Chicago Region Environmental and Transportation Efficiency (CREATE), a public-private partnership intended to reduce rail congestion in the Chicago network. CREATE includes up to 70 projects, and this is just one of the programs aiming to transform the city’s s rail and energy sector.
More exciting news
But we’re not stopping there! We know that the US is full of opportunities and we want to be a part of the transformational infrastructure changes that will be taking place over the next few years. As some readers may know, we have a strong track record in supporting some of the world’s most exciting engineering projects across the globe, so we certainly wont miss this opportunity. That’s why we are planning on continuing our US expansion by opening offices in Boston, California and Atlanta too.
All of these cities are significant to US rail growth, and are fertile areas for energy talent. We predict that all three of these locations will continue to be major hubs for US energy projects and we want to be on the ground, with a physical presence to help nurture skills and provide a front-facing experience to our clients. There’s huge investment in offshore and onshore energy in the US at the moment, and given our firm’s global experience in attracting niche talent in the energy fields, we will undoubtedly make a big impact on helping businesses source talent across the States.
The bigger picture
We are now in our fifth year of business and have succeeded in becoming a £16 million turnover company. We are thankful for everything that we have achieved so far and appreciate all of our fantastic people that have helped us on our journey. Rapid business expansion is not easy, but everyone here has shared our global vision and supported our aggressive five-year growth plan, helping us secure the position that we are now in. Now really is the time for excelled growth for us which is why we’re investing in these four new offices – with the potential for more to be opened further down the line.
